Original article, April 14, 2020: The OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro are finally here and it’s clear that the company is graduating from its “flagship killer” status to a full-fledged “premium” smartphone maker.

The top-of-the-line OnePlus 8 Pro is a dollar short of reaching the four-digit price mark, while the OnePlus 8 has a more digestible price tag, costing close to last year’s OnePlus 7 Pro.

OnePlus’ premium prices for the new series were more or less expected. The company has been on a trajectory of increasing the cost of its phones ever since the beginning.

Nevertheless, OnePlus has made it very clear that it wants to compete with the Samsungs and Apples of the world. The OnePlus 8 Pro is proof of that, with its fast wireless charging, IP68 rating, 120Hz display, and powerful quad camera setup.

Meanwhile, the OnePlus 8 misses out on living up to the company’s “Never Settle” mantra, at least on paper. It doesn’t have any of the aforementioned features, which is definitely a let down for fans who’ve been expecting them.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at all the pricing and availability details for the two OnePlus 8 phones. Keep in mind that these differ on the basis of countries and carriers, so make sure to check the section that’s most relevant to your region and operator of choice.

OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro pre-orders

The US and UK preorders for the OnePlus 8 series will go live on April 14 at 1PM ET (6PM BST). You will only be able to pre-order the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro from the company’s own website. However, when the phones finally go on sale, they will be available through a number of different platforms. Read on for all those details.

OnePlus 8 Pro
Killer flagship
OnePlus is all grown up. With the OnePlus 8 Pro, you get an unabashed flagship, with all the bells and whistles. Powerful specs, an amazing display, fast wireless charging, and water resistance make the OnePlus 8 Pro a great alternative to the Galaxy S20 Plus, and it’s up to $300 cheaper.

OnePlus 8
Snapdragon 865 on the cheap
The OnePlus 8 sticks to the formula that has made OnePlus so successful. It gets you the latest processing package, a versatile camera, and a beautiful display, running the smooth Oxygen OS. You miss out on wireless charging and the official IP rating, but for what it offers the OnePlus 8 is an attractive deal.

In addition, Verizon will also sell OnePlus 8 cases from OtterBox, Speck, OnePlus and InvisibleShield.

T-Mobile will also be carrying the OnePlus 8 in the United States, with availability starting on April 29. More details to come.
